DR GEORGIANA CAMERON
I am an educational and developmental psychologist who loves to help people of all ages. Through being playful, kind and curious, I help people to tell their story and recognise they have the power to shape their narrative and character.
ABOUT STORYKIND PSYCHOLOGY
People feel better with the help of others.
This simple truth helps guide my practice. Positive change happens when people feel heard, seen and believed. I focus on developing a therapeutic relationship which supports people to tap into their strengths, cope with difficulties and work towards their goals for the future. I use research to guide treatment, monitor outcomes and seek feedback to ensure therapy is client-driven.
The stories we tell about ourselves matter.
As humans we are made up of multiple stories, and sometimes we only listen to one unhelpful story which saps our vitality and strength. Our stories can be painful, yet stories have the power to heal.
A creative and strength-based approach to troubles and problems
Navigating life's challenges and tasks together
Specialising in working with adolescents and young adults, I guide clients to identify their strengths and resources to cope with life's challenges. I have expertise in supporting young people with anxiety disorders such as separation anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety, mood disorders such as depression, adjustment problems, eating disorders, social difficulties and bullying issues, emotional regulation, learning and developmental problems such as ADHD, ID and ASD, the effects of trauma, and family and parental separation issues.
Limited capacity, only offer Saturday appointments. Please contact me via the form for further information.
Having someone alongside you for the journey
Parenting is hard work, and even harder work when your child is experiencing distress and difficulties. I am here to support you and collaboratively come up with ways to deal with the challenges. I provide coaching and evidence-based advice on approaches to common problems such as anxiety, behavioural concerns and emotional regulation.
SUPERVISION, COACHING & MENTORING
Develop skills and reach your career goals
I offer face to face or telehealth clinical supervision for Educational and Developmental Endorsement and 4+2, 5+1 programs. I love to help people be their best, and will be guided by your goals. I can also provide coaching and mentoring within organisations.
ORGANISATIONAL CONSULTING AND TRAINING
Helping schools and organisations to be kinder and happier
With many years of experience working as a trainer and content developer, I am well placed to offer in-house presentations, workshops and training on positive psychology, positive education, social and emotional skills, mental health, wellbeing and solution-focused practices. I also love to develop customised evidence-based programs based on clients' specific needs.
Curious, kind and experienced
I’m Georgie and I love being a psychologist. Taking a curious and kind approach, I work collaboratively with children and adults to step through difficult times together, and come out stronger for the experience.
As a mother of three small children, I can relate to many of the challenges parents face. I am always professional yet also aim to be approachable and down to earth in my interactions. I want people to feel comfortable and free to be themselves without fear of judgement.

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
With over 15 years experience working with schools as a psychologist,
consultant and trainer, I am confident in the work I do. Since completing the Doctor of Educational Psychology at the University of Melbourne, I have enjoyed the best of both worlds when in comes to research and practice.
In the last 7 years, I have been the Research Manager,
as well as a Trainer and Content Developer for the Institute of Positive Education, Geelong Grammar School. I was lucky enough to support educators from all around the world to implement wholeschool evidence-based approaches to wellbeing.
I currently divide my time between working in private practice, Community Health, content creation for Posii, mental health advisor roles and other freelance projects that take my interest. I have been invited to appear on television news programs
such as ABC-24 to discuss student wellbeing and my research. I continue to publish scientific journal articles and chapters on the topic of student wellbeing and social and emotional learning.
Frequently asked questions
HOW DO I GET A MEDICARE REBATE FOR COUNSELLING SESSIONS?
If you are feeling in need of psychological support, it is recommended that you go to your GP and request a Mental Health Care Plan. If eligible, this Plan will give you a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
IS COUNSELLING CONFIDENTIAL AND PRIVATE?
Yes, the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Ethics states that all counselling sessions are confidential and private. The information you share during these sessions is not shared with anyone else. The only exception to this is when you or someone you know is at risk of immediate harm or injury, and/or your file is subpoenaed to a court of law.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE FIRST SESSION?
Counselling is just having a chat. I will be lead by you and what you feel comfortable with sharing. I will ask questions about what your strengths and passions are. As you feel more comfortable with me, I will ask you about what your hopes for therapy are.
AS A PARENT OR CARER OF THE YOUNG PERSON CAN I TALK TO YOU?
Definitely, but we do need to be mindful of a few things. The young person's privacy and confidentiality is paramount to effective therapy. Medicare rebates only cover the Individual who has the Mental Health Care Plan, so it is advisable for parents to seek out whether they are eligible for their own Plan if they require further support. I can schedule and charge for shorter telehealth or phone sessions to discuss particular concerns.
Please get in touch with me via the form. You can self refer for my services, or others can refer on your behalf.
